Howdy!
I'm Amy, the "animal person" behind Pet Rodeo, and this is Adelaide, our beautiful Great Pyrenees/Chow Chow/Cattle Dog/Pittie mix!
At Pet Rodeo, we design and sell our own original, vintage-inspired graphic tees, made especially for animal people. Our designs mostly feature dogs and cats and are inspired by vintage print ads and posters, resulting in our signature look of fun, stylish retro tees. But here's the real reason we're here: we created Pet Rodeo to raise money for a cause that is very close to my heart: helping ALL dogs and cats get the veterinary care they need.
We donate 20% of your total/gross purchase to nonprofit organizations that provide low-cost and free vet care, to help more pets get the veterinary care they need.
I've spent many happy years volunteering and working in animal welfare & veterinary medicine, where I learned that 50 - 60 million pets in America go without the medical care they need, just because their families can't afford vet care. These families love their pets just as much as I love mine and you love yours. They just need a little help. And that's what this brand is: a little help. The nonprofits we donate to help low-income families keep their pets healthy and happy, and that brings so much love and joy into the world! And at Pet Rodeo, we're all about JOY! Remember when you were a little, animal-loving kiddo, and your parents finally said "yes" to adopting a kitten, or you got to visit a petting zoo, or, if you were like me... you caught a horny toad in the backyard... See photo below of me, as a 5 year old Texas kid, being REALLY HAPPY about a horny toad (I let him go, of course)... THAT'S the kind of happiness we want you to have when you wear your Pet Rodeo tees.
So, we create soft, comfortable and stylish graphic tees guaranteed to make animal people as happy as a cat in a sunbeam. Our original designs celebrate animals and all that they bring to our lives. We love a vintage vibe, so there's a lot of that here, and some Texas flair, too. And speaking of Texas flair... the name Pet Rodeo was inspired by working with animals, too! Any day in a vet clinic or animal shelter can feel like your first rodeo, even when you've been doing it for years!
There's about a billion new digital printing and "print on demand" t-shirt companies out there, and we've made a conscious decision to go a different way with Pet Rodeo. We care about quality and community. We want our tees to last for years, and we want to work with real people, in our own local community, to craft tees in the most environmentally sustainable and humane way possible.
So, we select the tees we print on from a US-based company that is certified for their ethical business practices and that I've test-worn and washed over and over. We choose screen printing and print limited runs of our new designs with Industry Print Shop in Austin, Texas because we know and love this small business. They use environmentally-friendly, water-based inks to create soft, breathable shirts using tried and true, extremely durable, old school screen printing techniques. They are also just really rad humans (who love animals, too).
The same goes for all the humans we work with to create and refine our artwork, do our photography, etc. We see our small business as part of an interconnected network with other small, local businesses and creatives, all supporting each other. When you shop here, you aren't just supporting Pet Rodeo and helping us to make vet care more accessible, you are also supporting all the other small businesses and creatives we work with.
