Donation Program

Kitten recovering after spay surgery

Every purchase helps pets get the medical care they need.

Pet Rodeo is a charitable mercantile. We donate to nonprofit vet clinics and programs that help families afford vet care for their beloved pets. The nonprofits we support offer veterinary care at a fraction of the cost of for-profit clinics, and sometimes even for free. Their work keeps dogs and cats healthy and keeps families together and happy. This photo is of a kitten warmly snuggled up after her low-cost spay surgery at the nonprofit vet clinic Emancipet in Philadelphia.

We just opened our store in early 2025, and so far, we have donated $615.34 to nonprofit veterinary clinics & programs. We can't do this without YOU: thank you for every purchase you have made - it truly makes a huge impact in the lives of the families and pets served by our nonprofit partners!

Here's how our Donation Program works:

  • We automatically donate 20% of the total purchase price of every item sold to selected nonprofit, low-cost vet clinics or programs (processed through Shop for Good/Daily Karma Foundation). This is at no additional cost to shoppers. You can select one specific nonprofit to benefit from your purchase at checkout, or you can just allow us to split the donation between the nonprofits we support.

  • On top of that, we invite all our shoppers to donate an extra dollar through our Give a Buck! program at checkout, which we MATCH with another dollar... to increase our shared impact even more! It may not sound like much, but an extra $2 from every shopper adds up quickly to cover the cost of things every pet needs like vaccines, spay/neuter, and more.

  • When we do pop-up events or markets, we may select additional non-profits as beneficiaries so we can help more organizations.

FAQs

Which nonprofits do you support?

All our donations go directly to the Daily Karma Foundation, who then takes the donations and directs the funds to our chosen beneficiaries based on which organization shoppers pick. Currently we have two options for the automatic donation of 20% of online purchases:

  •  Emancipet: a national nonprofit on a mission to make veterinary care affordable and accessible for everyone, by building a network of low-cost veterinary clinics.
  •  The Direct Care Fund (a program of CARE): this program that provides direct funding to pay veterinary bills for low-income families who cannot afford the cost of care.

In addition to that, we support other nonprofit vet clinics with sales from pop up events or markets, and with any additional donations we make at the end of each quarter.

Do you donate items for silent auctions or nonprofit events?

Yes! We're happy to donate items if the event benefits nonprofit programs that provide free or low-cost veterinary care for owned pets or for community cats - email us at howdy@petrodeo.com with information about your event!

Can I suggest a nonprofit vet clinic or program for you to support?

Yes, please do! We are open to supporting any non-profit, low-cost veterinary care program or clinic, or any program that provides veterinary care to community cats.

One very important thing to note: we use the Shop for Good/Daily Karma app to process the 20% of online sales donations, so only nonprofits that are registered with their partner Change.io are eligible for that part of our donation program. Nonprofits can register with Change.io by "claiming" their nonprofit through this link

However, we support nonprofit clinics in other ways, too, for those that are not registered. We write a "Singing their Praises" series on our blog, highlighting the work of these amazing organizations, we can donate items for events, and we can add them to our list of organizations to distribute quarterly donations to, in the event we have additional funds left over. Please reach out to howdy@petrodeo.com with your suggestions or information about your nonprofit vet clinic or program.
